SIJHL Friday Final Scores

Two games on the night Friday. The Wisconsin Wilderness traveled to Fort William Gardens to meet the North Stars. After three periods of play Wisconsin coming away with a 3-2 victory.

In other action the Ice Dogs and Fort Frances Lakers went head to head at the Ice For Kids Arena, the Lakers taking the win 4-2

3 games on the night Saturday. Thunder Bay and Wisconsin meet for a rematch, Sioux Lookout Flyers vs the Fort Frances Lakers, and The Dryden Ice Dogs in action against the Iron Range Ironheads.


Eagle Girls Back on the Ice

The Dryden Eagle Girls High School Hockey team is back in action after a long-layoff in League play.
The Eagles face the Fort Frances Muskies at the Dryden Memorial Arena tonight. (Friday)
Dryden hasn't played a League game since January 10th and the club remains undefeated.
Game time is 7 o'clock.


Rams Double Header at Cochenour Arena

A High School Hockey twin-bill at the Cochenour Arena today. (Friday)
The Red Lake Rams are on home ice in Girls and Boys play.
The Girls get things going at 4:30 as the Rams entertain the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints.
The Red Lake Boys will follow at 7:30 with a match-up against the Beaver Brae Broncos.


Ice Dogs Looking to Continue Winning Ways in Fort

The Dryden Ice Dogs are hoping their dominance over the Fort Frances Lakers continues tonight. (Friday)
The two teams meet at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Dryden has won five straight against the Lakers and has only lost once in Fort Frances.
Game time is 7:30.
CKDR will have the call starting at 7:15.
Elsewhere in the SIJHL, the Thunder Bay North Stars look to make it two in a row against the Wisconsin Wilderness as the two teams hook up in Thunder Bay.
Puck-drop is 6:30.


Renegades Back in the Eagle Lake Arena

The Northern Renegades are back home and are looking for their first win in the Thunder Bay Junior 'B' Hockey League.
The Renegades face the Schreiber Falcons tonight (Friday) and Saturday.
Game time tonight is 8 o'clock at the Eagle Lake Arena.
Puck-drop is 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon.


Eagles Take 3 of 4 From Broncos

The Dryden Eagle Court teams took 3 of 4 games from the visiting Beaver Brae Broncos Thursday.
The Junior Girls Volleyball team downed the Broncos 26-24, 25-10 and 25-10.
The Senior Girls also won in straight sets 25-9, 25-18 and 25-21.
Dryden's Senior Boys Basketball team cruised to an 59-24 victory over Kenora.
The Junior Boys weren't as fortunate, losing 27-22.


Eagles Can't Upset Muskies

The Dryden Eagles four game winning streak has come to an end.
The High School Boys Hockey team dropped a thrilling 4-3 decision to the Fort Frances Muskies Thursday night on the road.
Kale Kuzemchuk led the way with a pair of markers, while Kyson Jensson added a single.
Justin Oltsher made 32-saves for Dryden.


Chris Hoffman Leads Flyers to Victory

A big two points for the Sioux Lookout Flyers.
Chris Hoffman scored goals 20-seconds apart in the second period to lead the Flyers past the visiting Duluth Clydesdales 4-3 Thursday night.
Alex Beaulne and Tanner Duffney also found the back of the net.
Dryden's Matt Benson made 34-saves for his first SIJHL win.
Sioux Lookout is now four points up on the 6th place Clydesdales.


Two Important Games in Boys Hockey Today

A true test for the Dryden Eagle Boys High School team.
The 'Blue and Gold' carry a four game winning streak into Fort Frances tonight (Thursday) against the Muskies.
Fort Frances hasn't lost in regulation this season.
Game time is 7:15 at the Ice for Kids Arena.
The Queen Elizabeth Warriors are also in action.
Sioux Lookout is in Kenora to battle the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints.


Flyers Look to Get Back on Track

The Sioux Lookout Flyers look for revenge tonight as they are back on the ice against the Duluth Clydesdales.
Duluth upset Sioux Lookout 8-4 last night to move two points behind the 5th place Flyers.
Game time is 7:30 at the Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena.


Dryden Eagle Ski Team Shines in Kenora

A great medal haul for the Dryden Eagle Nordic Ski team in Kenora on Wednesday.
Dryden's Luke Smith skied the 5.1-kilometre course in just over 22-minutes to capture gold in the Junior Boys category.
Ilya Perkins finished second.
Sarah Smith picked up a bronze medal in the Senior Girls Division.
First time racer, Robert Grandmont skied the 1.2-kilometre open division course in a time of 8:14, capturing NORWOSSA gold.
Dryden skiers placed 4th, 5th and 6th in the Senior Boys category.
Michael Hodgkinson, who represented Dryden in the Grade 7/8 Division, finished third out of 23-racers.


Quick Turnaround for Dryden Eagles

The Dryden Eagles are back in action this afternoon (Thursday) against the Beaver Brae Broncos.
The Junior Girls Volleyball game starts at noon.
The Junior Boys Basketball and Senior Girls Volleyball games follow at 1:30.
The Senior Boys game is scheduled for 3 o'clock.


Flyers Streak Ends at Three

A four goal outburst in the second period propelled the Duluth Clydesdales to an 8-4 win over the Sioux Lookout Flyers Wednesday night.
Chris Hoffman led the Flyers with a pair of goals, while Jacob Nolan and Max Strasser added singles.
Duluth outshout Sioux Lookout 49-34.
The Clydesdales are now 2-points back of the 5th place Flyers, with the rematch scheduled for tonight (Thursday) in Sioux Lookout.
In other SIJHL action, the Thunder Bay North Stars upset the league leading Wisconsin WIldernes 4-0.


Senior Girls Pick Up Victory in Fort Frances

A convincing win for the Dryden Eagles Senior Girls Volleyball team in Fort Frances.
The Eagles defeated the Muskies in straight sets 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 today (Wednesday)
Dryden remains undefeated in regular season play.

Fort Frances Holds on for Win

The Dryden Eagle Senior Boys Basketball team couldn't complete a second half comeback, losing 38-30 in Fort Frances today. (Wednesday)
The Eagles trailed the Muskies 16-7 at half-time.
Kurtis Burnell led Dryden with 8-points.
Kevin Gardam added 7.


Chris Hoffman SIJHL Player of the Week

Sioux Lookout's Chris Hoffman is the SIJHL player of the week.
The 20-year-old forward racked up 11-points in helping the Flyers to a trio of victories.
Hoffman recorded 6-goals and 5-assists and had 2-game winning goals.
Hoffman leads the league in goals with 33 and tops his club in overall points with 53.
Dryden's Ryan Lobreau was a runner-up.


Hitting the Trails in Sioux Lookout

It's time to hit the trails!
The Ojibway Power Toboggan Club is hosting its Annual Poker Derby on Saturday.
Director Gail Sayers was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show today (Wednesday) and says the snowmobile trails are in great shape.
It's also expected to be a mild weekend.
Registration starts at 9 o'clock Saturday morning.
Participants will then take a 50-mile trip around the Hudson loop.

Lang and Firth Jump to Fort Frances

The fall-out from the departure of Todd Howarth as Coach of the Thunder Bay North Stars continues.
Long-time staff member Trevor Lang and Assistant coach Jason Firth have stepped down.
Both have accepted positions with the Fort Frances Lakers.
Lang will serve as Director of Scouting for the rest of the year.
Firth will also help out in the scouting department.
